Our Story

In different seasons of our lives, John and I both found our own connection to the outdoors.

Over time, that connection became something we came to understand the same way — that nature can be many things: a place to reflect, to sit with memories, to feel most like yourself.

For many people (ourselves included), the world can feel overwhelming — full of noise, pressure, and constant expectations.

Nature is a place where we've learned we can go — or even just quietly think about — and feel calm again. Grounded.

Grounded feels like the noise fading out.

Like your shoulders finally dropping.

Like you can just breathe.

Where the stress and expectations fall away — even if only for a little while.

Years later, that feeling turned into something more.

A few years ago, when we took our son, LJ, to Minnesota, we chose quiet over crowded — trails over tourist stops, still water over busy streets.

And something about that time just...slowed everything down. We were together in a way that felt uninterrupted. Present.

It also made something very clear:

places like this won't always stay the same.

That trip became more than a vacation — it became a reminder to protect what matters, to teach LJ to respect and care for the natural world, and to never take these moments for granted.

Flint & Pine North grew from those experiences.

We've always been drawn to places that slow the world down. Minnesota, Michigan, and the North became part of our story because they reminded us what it feels like to be grounded.

That same feeling eventually led us West, to places like Montana and Wyoming.

Each design comes from a real place, a real moment, or a feeling tied to both.

Because those are things that stay with you.

The moments you share. The places that steady you. The feeling of being small in the best way.

Every design begins somewhere real.

Not just visually, but emotionally.

This isn't just for one kind of person. It's for anyone who finds something in nature — whether that's peace, clarity, connection, or just a break from the noise.

Maybe our story feels familiar. Or maybe something here connects to a completely different moment in your own life.

Either way, that meaning matters.

Because in the end, it's not just about where these designs come from — it's about where they take you.
